What do these 10 people have in common?

Get Altitude with Eban PaganSheila, Chance, Shannon, David, BoRyan, Ralph, Rob, Brad, Andrew and Joanne.

They all work for 1 man (who I’ll expose to you in just a moment.)

But first…

You need to ask the more important question of “What”.

Jim Collins, the author of the amazing book Good To Great has a saying:

“First WHO, then WHAT.”

The answers to some of the most pressing issues most businesses are grasping at straws and trying to solve are hidden within the WHAT.

So I want to you to read the following page very carefully word for word, then as you see each name ask your self…

WHAT is it that this person does for living, WHAT are they responsible for and WHAT could having someone like them on my team do for my business in the next 6 months”.

Double Your AltitudeLast week I outlined a great video and business marketing quiz to check out. I’ve had a tremendous amount of great feedback from people that took the quiz and downloaded the free software that allows you to create your own landing page quizzes.

Well, by now if you haven’t heard of Eban Pegan, the creator of the Altitude program, then I advise you to pay attention to this guy.

He’s young, has an incredibly sharp mind and he’s even making the gurus think twice about how they operate their business and their marketing campaigns.

If you own your own business, chances are you either have employees or you’re hoping to get some soon.

Test Your Internet Marketing Skills

July 16th, 2007

Marketing QuizI have a confession to make…

I’ve been hiding under a rock for the past month. (What’s new?! ;-) )

You see I’ve been working 18 hour days for nearly a month on a new web site I’m about to launch (and no it’s not another Internet Marketing product).

I’ve started to develop some high-end eCommerce storefronts and break into untapped niche markets. (Very exciting stuff).

But that’s not why I’m emailing you today.

I’ve got my head down and I’m extremely focused on some huge projects but I received an email yesterday from a friend of mine that was asking me to give him my opinion on this new product he’s launching (it’s currently in beta).

After checking out what he’s put together I was blown away by how powerful it is yet so incredibly simple that even my grandmother could use it. So I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know about this free software while it’s still in beta.

I don’t want to spoil the fun but I’ll give you a hint, it’s a new way of doing website landing pages (AKA Opt-in or Shy-Yes pages) that increases conversion.

Very interesting stuff.

He’s also put together a great business analysis quiz that you can take. It gives you a custom 5-page report with all kinds of cool tips for growing your business.

Anyway, you need to go download it this free software while the Beta is still available. When you go to this page, you can take the business quiz, watch a great video that teaches you some marketing lessons, and download the software:

www.DoubleYourAltitude.com

Make sure you go ALL THE WAY THROUGH this site. Because just by observing what he’s doing is a fantastic lessons in and of itself, but the free software makes it a crazy-good deal.

SEO Wordpress Tricks

Internet Marketing Community In The World!
Best of all… it’s FREE!

John Reese of Income.com posted a recent question on his blog…

Calling All SEO Super Geeks! I know there are super genius SEO people out there that can give their two cents on this…

View his full post with all 4 questions here…

My reply to his post is as follows:

Hey John,

Looks like things are boiling over on your end with your new income.com pre-launch blog. I love your new sound studio… I’m jealous!

Anyhow I’m not an SEO expert but I’ve been Stompin’ for a while and this is what I would say in response to your questions.

1 - Q: Permalink Post Structure - Is it better to be using a /name-of-the-post/ (directory) structure instead of a /name-of-the-post.html structure?

Answer: From all that I have read I chose to do the full directory url structure with my blog instead of the .html version. I don’t have a hell of a lot to back it up but it’s working fo me.

I have no answer for you on your second and third questions.

4 - Q: PageRank ‘Aiming’ - what is the best no-follow strategy to use with certain links on my blog while ‘aiming’ all that PR on that page to a certain tag or special permalink for a specific post?

Answer: Okay I’ll get geeky and see if you can understand it…

What I would do (and should, if I can find the time to not be so damn lazy on some of my own SEO tricks), is to make every single link off your blog home page into a nofollow tag except the few important keyword rich posts you are trying to get ranked. Then place at least one link that also is a straight up link (don’t use nofollow) and point that at something like a sitemap.

You don’t want to make this page be a typical site map though, sprinkle some content around with RSS or article clippings to make the page look good to spiders. This sitemap should link to every single page on your blog, all posts, etc. so that your entire site gets indexed.

Finally make sure that you point all your internal blog pages at the home page. This way you can channel the PageRank and build up PR equity on your main rool URL. Then you simply pass that around to whatever posts are specifically written for SEO content.

Here is are a few sources for plugins that I use with WordPress.

* NetConcepts

Hope this helps,

Using Your Business Cards for Prospecting

May 31st, 2007

Marketing Minute - Weekly Q MarketingMinute.com - Get to the heart of a
content rich continuing education valued over
$250,000 in less than 5 minutes per week…

Hey Robert,

Good question, your business cards play an important roll in your offline marketing and networking strategies.

Posted from Marketing Minute eGram Week #1:

How do I create business cards with an irresistible offer and an ethical bribe? Must I purchase Desktop publishing program and create my own template or have you folks created a handy template online yet?

If you do want to create an “Irresistible Offer”, my advice would be to put all your main particulars on the front of your business card with an icon or indicator in the lower left or right corner that says “Turn Me Over“.

Then on the backside of your card, simply make them the same offer that you give away on your Shy-Yes page. For example, with MarketingMinute.com we give away Alex Mandossian’s Action Secrets - 7 part mini-course along with the complete transcripts.

So in our case I would say “Claim your free copy of Action Secrets and learn 7 time tested techniques to get more done faster, better and with less human effort“.

Then you can simply put the web site address in large bold lettering below it to direct people to your Shy-Yes offer.

Hope this helps,
Segovia Smith

Webinars VS. Webcasting VS. Teleseminars?

May 31st, 2007

Webinar VS WebcastSegovia here with a quick update and a few tips on the latest in web technologies.

You’ve no doubt either heard about or attended either a Webinar or Webcast, but can you explain what the difference between the two is?

Simply put…

A Webinar is something you can logon via your web browser or special client side software application and actually view either a Power Point presentation, and HTML Slide Show or even someone else’s computer screen so you can watch over their shoulder as they work.

On the other hand, a Webcast is where you can either dial into a direct phone or listen online via a live streaming web technology (usually done with Flash Media, Window Media or RealPlayer).

Both are very effective and have their purpose in many different instances.

And finally you have your good old fashion Teleseminar (yah right, that’s old fashion only in Internet years ;-) , either way Teleseminar Marketing is more powerful and more reliable than both.

QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT!

1) I wanted to make sure you are aware of our “Daily Call Calendarwhere we list upcoming Webinars, Webcasts, and Teleseminars all in one convenient location for you to browse and select the topics relevant to your learning curve.

2) Here are two events taking place TODAY that you don’t want to miss and better yet, you don’t have to wait for:

* Rick Raddatz is holding a special Q&A Training call on how to use his incredible new Webcast Technology.

* Frank Deardurff is teaching via Webinar today also, where he will cover in great detail things in his “Web Site Crash Course” like:

- And the list goes on and on…

WHEN: May 31 2007
TIME A: 10am PST (1pm EST)
or

So, clear your schedule for the next few hours and go check out what these two are doing and experience first hand the difference between a Webinar and a Webcast.

Segovia Smith

PS. I’m still working getting the reviews and training video together that I talked about in a previous post. But they’re on their way!

“I’m so hungry, I’m starving to death…”

May 28th, 2007

I'm Hungry, Please Help!First off, I needed to get your attention with a shocking headline, so if you are reading this then it worked.

Second, I hope you are enjoying the last few hours of your memorial day weekend…

Now to the importance of my SUBJECT LINE:

Have you ever gone a day without food?

How about a week?

The sad part is, unfortunately, millions of children experience this exact pain, right now and every day.

Many of who go to sleep at night and never wake up….

But YOU can help us change this, TODAY!

An associate of mine, Stephen Pierce, has just launched an amazing fundraiser…

* His goal is to feed over
* 1,000,000 million children
* Within 72 HOURS from now!
* And I want to help him do it.

So, let’s ban together and spread the word to help feed over 1,000,000 children that need our help.

Here’s what I need you to do:

1. Visit this site: http://ForAGreaterCause.org

2. Download the Stephen’s “Success Report”, which will by itself donate a plate of food on your behalf — even if you don’t have a penny of your own money to give.

* You get a TON of ebooks, audios, videos, and special reports when you donate.

4. Spread the word! Email your ezine lists, post about this on your blog, and feed children that need our help!

A HUGE “Thank You” in advance for any help you can offer this amazing cause.

To World Health,
Segovia Smith

PS. I just received an email from Stephen’s incredible wife Alicia who’s in charge of this project and she said they are only $9,500 short of meeting their goal with only 7 hours left.

Karmic Marketing & The Laws of Reciprocity

May 14th, 2007

Karma PoliceI want to discuss something that is rarely covered in traditional Internet Marketing. This is a law and a principle called, “Karmic Marketing” also referred to as the “Law of Reciprocity.

First, what exactly is reciprocity?

A simple explanation would be, you do something nice for somebody, and in return, they feel almost obligated to do something nice for you. It doesn’t have to be stated. It doesn’t have to be in writing or even mentioned or even outwardly discussed. It’s just one of those universal laws, just like gravity.

You may beg to differ on how the “Law of Reciprocity” in theory and concept woks in marketing, but try Karmic Marketing and I’m willing to bet money that it’ll work for your business too.

So how do we use Karmic Marketing?

I find through consistent communication and email with your list, you want to sprinkle in a little karmic marketing dust now and then to keep people guessing… Read the rest of this entry »

Narrowing Your Keyword Research

May 9th, 2007

Marketing Minute - Weekly Q MarketingMinute.com - Get to the heart of a
content rich continuing education valued over
$250,000 in less than 5 minutes per week…

Hey Lawton,

Thanks for the question…

Posted from Marketing Minute eGram Week #2:

When doing keyword research, how narrow do the search numbers need to be? When is there too much competition based on the number of people who searched?

I would assume you’re either searching for a niche space to break into, or you already have a site and just building your keyword list.

The total search volume is only one of a few factors to consider, you also want to check out a few other numbers to help guide your marketing efforts.

  • STEP 1: Go to SearchForMyKeywords.com and find out how many estimated visitors your targeted phrases will get per month. Keep in mind this is based on the Overture database which is only about 10% of the web’s total traffic. So if it’s estimating that search phrase would receive 193 visitors per month, you could multiply it by x10 to get a more accurate representation of total Net wide search volume (1,930).
  • STEP 2: Next you want to do a search for the keyword phrase on Google and look for the total number of returned results, this will be shown in the top right hand corner like “Results 1 of 100 of about 1,326,788 for keywords…”. This will tell you a broad range of how many pages are indexed with a similar keyword DNA.
  • STEP 3: Finally, you want to do the same keyword search in Google, but this time put quotes around your keyword phrase (E.g. “free keyword search tool”). This will tell you more likely how many competing pages are in the index. The result will usually range between 0 to 50,000. You want to find keyword phrases that tend to be in the lower range (under 5,000 is a good place to start).

This should help you in the right direction, if you are looking for a good free keyword research tools you can find one at GoodKeywords.com, but if you are tired of spending hours or even days trying to find the best keywords… and if you are serious about your Adwords, PPC or SEO then you truly need to invest in Brad Callen’s Keyword Elite software.

Make it a Great Day!

Web Visitor Eyeball Tracking Software

May 6th, 2007

Visitor Eye Tracking SoftwareIt’s incredible how the physiology of web traffic conversion is getting more and more sophisticated every year.

I just watched this super exciting video that explains how you can actually track the eyeball movements of your visitors on your web site.

Why would anyone want to do such a thing?

Simple, if you know where their eyes gravitate to first, you can work on better optimizing those positions on your page, which will ultimately help you keep the visitor on your site longer and encourage them to click on something, leading to either an opt-in or better yet a sale.

This video, also went on to explain how you can track your visitors buying behaviours by time line to see how long it takes them to purchase from you.

It’s amazing when you see that some of your visitors don’t make a purchase until 3-9 months after they first visited you (let’s say from your Google Adwords campaign).

Finally, it went on to further outline how in many cases without even knowing it, even experienced Adwords professionals don’t know what they’re talking about.

They exposed a few Adwords techniques that I wasn’t aware of and am 99.98% certain that after implementing these 2 simple strategies I just learned, I’ll more than quadruple my Adwords CTR (Click Through Rate) and give my ROI (Return on Investment) a huge boost.

So enough about what you’re about to learn and let’s get on with it…

Watch this exclusive “Eye Popping” training video now (no pun intended ;-) .

Good Sales,
Segovia Smith
