Overcoming the Google SlapSome Good News for Landing Pages…

Have you been struggling to get your site back to the top of the PPC engines?

Are you getting pushed around with ridiculously high bid prices for your best “Money-Terms” that used to bring in all the cash?

Or perhaps you’re “Suggested Bid Price” is fluctuating so frequently you can’t tell if it’s mapped to a tide chart or a yoyo.

If any of the following describe your symptoms of pain and frustration, you need to read this great article by Jerry West:

How to Dominate and Win Affiliate Marketing With Them

[… Landing Pages are the weapon of choice for Affiliate Marketers. Marketers who do not employ Landing Pages either do not understand the concept, or they are just plain lazy. Usually, it is the latter. Laziness is often contagious and it is often why 98% of Affiliate Marketers fail to earn over $1,000.00 a month. …]

Templatizing & Systemizing Your Business

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Process MapsI want to highlight an incredibly valuable lesson that most people have probably heard of but either never fully grasped the power of, or simply never acted upon these principles to empower their own business.

It’s called “Installing Systems and Infrastructure”

Ask yourself how much time you spend “Working On Your Business” VS. “Working In Your Business“?

Then ask yourself when the last time you sat down and either wrote out, planned, reviewed or created any of the following for yourself, your staff, an employee or an outsourced contractor…

  • Systems
  • Checklists
  • Process Maps
  • Policies
  • Guidelines
  • Instruction Manuals
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Style Guide

Or any other template driven process in your business.

Let’s illustrate this with an example from my own business.

Karmic Marketing & The Laws of Reciprocity

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Karma PoliceI want to discuss something that is rarely covered in traditional Internet Marketing. This is a law and a principle called, “Karmic Marketing” also referred to as the “Law of Reciprocity.

First, what exactly is reciprocity?

A simple explanation would be, you do something nice for somebody, and in return, they feel almost obligated to do something nice for you. It doesn’t have to be stated. It doesn’t have to be in writing or even mentioned or even outwardly discussed. It’s just one of those universal laws, just like gravity.

You may beg to differ on how the “Law of Reciprocity” in theory and concept woks in marketing, but try Karmic Marketing and I’m willing to bet money that it’ll work for your business too.

So how do we use Karmic Marketing?

I find through consistent communication and email with your list, you want to sprinkle in a little karmic marketing dust now and then to keep people guessing… (more…)

What’s Your Google Phrase?

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Google DNAHave you ever gone to Google and typed in your name just to see what comes up? What about the name of a friend or family member?

It’s kind of cool to see what the world has to say about you. But what if you didn’t want to be listed in the “INDEX”? What if you wanted to keep your anonimity and be unknown to the world? Is such a thing possible? Can you hide from the radar of the web? Should you?

What if someone else were to write something about you, either on a blog or in a community newspaper article? How difficult would it be to actually try and track down and have all of these references removed or deleted from the source loction?

What about the Archive.org (aka “The Way Back Machine”)… what if even after you had the materials or references pulled from their original location, they would still be listed in the cyber-archives of the web for potentially prying eyes to view.

But let’s get back to the positive aspects of being included as an individual in the SERP’s (Search Engine Results Pages). Stop for a moment and imagine that you are one of the worlds most saught after Internet Marketing SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) Specialist. Then think about what would that one keyword phrase or word be, that you would want to be listed for?

What are Tag Clouds and how can we use them?

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

Tag CloudsHave Tag Clouds ever peaked your curiosity? I’ve always been a fan of keeping up with the trends in technology and I think Tag Clouds in general are one of the more interesting side effects of Web2.0.

I’ve always taken a liking to them but hadn’t found a lot of use until recently. I asked the question “What can we learn from a Tag Cloud?”… and “How can I as a marketer use this seemingly random display of data to my advantage?”

So I went searching for some answers and came up with some very cool sites…

The CrackBerry Epidemic - Is it affecting you?

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

Crackberry EpidemicThe term ‘Crackberry‘, now voted Word of the Year for 2006 by Webster’s New World Dictionary, has been heard throughout schools, office cubicles and even at your local washroom movie theatre.I stumbled across this term as I was looking for word trends, slang and street lingo while doing SEO Keyword research for a new campaign I am working on.

The humorous part is, there seems to be quite a bit of commotion going on around the web and in the media. They’re saying things like “…this wide spread epidemic could foster a new generation of Crack Babies…”.

I did a few quick searches and found the term defined in several online dictionaries such as the Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary, NetLingo, and the Urban Dictionary.

The etymological source of the nickname is the highly-addictive rock cocaine, called crack, for the first part of the word, combined with the berry from BlackBerry,” writes James Alan miller, a journalist for SmartPhone Today. (more…)
